Three years of monitoring the long-distance bus market in Italy show that travelers today prefer quality buses and demand to travel along routes longer than 600 km. They also prefer to spend a few euros more, as long as the trip is comfortable, convenient, the vehicles are clean and the services are accessible. In fact, against such services, there is a growth in the distance of connections.
There is also a strong growth in searches on more than 2,000 connections during summer periods. It is predominantly women who travel in July.
Trips with friends and family also increase during the peak season. In particular, trips going from north to south are in high demand.
The interregional connection is also increasing.
The most sought-after interregional connection is between Lazio and Calabria, while the most sought-after regions throughout Italy are Lombardy, Puglia and Calabria.
The sixth report on long-distance bus market trends in Italy, prepared by Milan Polytechnic TRANSPOL in collaboration with CheckMyBus, includes three years of monitoring. The entire report can be downloaded at (Italian): Report on the Long Distance Bus Market in Italy | YEAR 2018.
